12 Cool YouTube Banner Examples – How to make them

I believe you already know you can edit your YouTube banners. You can do this by using Bannersnack as well. So I’m going to start by giving you a few examples and then, at the bottom of this article you can start designing your own cover by clicking the start here.

Creativity and art is in everything. Starting from music, to nature and also to computer. But what about the Internet, especially YouTube? The Piano Guys designed a YouTube banner showing us exactly how and what you’ll feel like after listening to a few of their songs and watching their music videos. 

2. Russel Brand

Russel Brand has more than 1 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. Why? Because every video he uploads is exactly how this visual looks like: crazy, entertaining with lots of lots of Russel charisma. 

3. SoulPancake

Do you have some deep questions? Do you need some deep answers? Then go and check out Soul Pancake’s YouTube channel. But before you do this, let me tell you why this Youtube Banner is a creativity blast: because they designed a simple, yet very trendy visual that will just make you hit the subscribe button.

4. The Slo Mo Guys

You know that we are talking a lot about value proposition, and the Slo Mo Guys have a funny one: Gavin and Dan have a $150,000 high speed camera where they show you and the world frames moving hundreds of times slower than you can see with your eyes. As you can see, their YouTube banner is also a slow motion picture! 

5. TED

If you are a conference organizer or you work in the event industry, and you want to start a YouTube channel then you definitely should look at TED’s channel and learn how to design a Youtube banner. Because on this cover you can see 2 important things: the brand and the people participating in the event. 

6. Just for Laughs

If you want to redesign your Youtube banner and you don’t know what to do, here is an example from the “Just for Laughs” guys. Make it simple and to the point! Be thankful for everyone who has subscribed to your channel. 

7. Comedy Central

I believe in the power of branding and I also believe in keeping things simple and clean. And Comedy Central is a great example on how to use your logo on your Youtube Banners. So when you want to use your logo in your visual, keep it original, simple and also leave enough room to help it stand out and be more noticeable. 

8. Sephora

If you are a brand and you have your own brand ambassador program, then why not show them off in your YouTube banner? Here is a great example from Sephora who doesn’t just show their ambassadors, but also sends out a clear message: “Let’s Beauty Together” 

9. Casey Neistat

Vloggers are an important element in YouTube’s marketing strategy. So if you want to know how to grow your channel, start by subscribing to the top vloggers and take a look at how they are promoting their content. Casey Neistat is a great vlogger and he is using a simple black and white cover to make a point “This is my YouTube channel and you should definitely subscribe to it” 

10. Content Marketing Institute

Maybe you are a big business with many separate side projects, but you want to put them all on one YouTube channel. And sometimes it’s a great strategy to do this. But make sure you let the user who comes on your channel know that here can he can find more than one specific thing about your brand. Oh, and don’t forget to create a compelling message to get people to click on your website.

11. Converse

I’m a big fan of Converse so I had  to write about them. Here is a great YouTube banner where they are not desperately promoting their product but they are showing an emotion. This is what a brand should do with their covers, create a visual content where people can see the emotion your brand is bringing in the customers’ lives. 

12. Threehouse

What about using graphic elements in your YouTube banners? Simple and great. But keep in mind, keep up with the trend and try using elements that your community is familiar wit. As we see at Threehouse, they are using elements that users understand and make sense to them; and everything is about education and learning how to code. 

 

So, your YouTube banner will look different across devices, so YouTube’s recommendation is to make it really big (2560 x 1440 – the whole image will be displayed on TV only) and then pay special attention to the middle section of the banner, because that part will be displayed on computers, tablets and smartphones.
