Nowadays, images are one of the factors that revolutionized human social communication. Everyone uses images on their banners because it’s a better and easy way to communicate a message or tell a story behind a brand.
We’ve all heard the cliché, “An image says more than 1000 words”. But why we prefer images more than words?
We live into an emerging world that everything moves faster and faster. The human brain is capable of recognizing a familiar object within 100 milliseconds and a familiar face within 380 milliseconds (read more here). The reason why designers, marketers and many other use images so often is because they’re faster, easier and can drag more attention than a simple sentence.
Let’s move on to brands.
We know that all big brands that have used visual content had a bigger impact and encountered a greater engagement. Everyone has seen more and more banners,ads or billboards with visual content.
Each of them is trying to tell us the story behind the brand and create brand awareness.
How do we choose the right image for our banner?
First of all, we consider that quality of images provides more authenticity and a cleaner look.

But keep it real, try to add high quality images to your banner that doesn’t trick the customer’s mind.
Have you seen a really tasty and delicious hamburger on McDonald’s big billboards, but when you went to buy one, it looked totally different? That’s what I mean by keeping it real.
Relevancy, is another important factor that can boost your banner.
Try to add relevant images to your banner, images that count. But don’t try to add images that are only relevant, try to add images that tells your story.
If you found images that are relevant to your banner, but don’t match with your brand story, try to avoid them and keep it simple.
Another factor that gives power to images is color. Color helps banners to grab attention and attract customers.
That doesn’t mean you have to add very high contrast images to your banner. Creating breaks between text on images gives people time to stop and think about story and concept. Lines, frames and spots are also important for a better visual digestion.
In conclusion, images are important because they can communicate easier the story behind a brand with their customers, an image is like a common language, understood by everyone.
How to add images in Bannersnack
To start, click “Add image” tab from the left side. You get two options for adding images: you can upload images from your computer, or use our stock photo collection.
If you already have the image you want to use, upload it from your computer. You can use static files (.png or .jpeg). Browse to locate your image, select it, click upload and it will be added to your banner.
Need more images? Just search our stock photo collection – it features thousands of high-quality stock images, cropped and ready to use. Type in keywords and images relevant to your search will appear. Let’s say you want to create a banner for your pharmacy. Just type in pharmacy and images related to pharmacy will appear.
Once you have selected an image, click Upload to add it to your banner.
Next, choose how you want to add the image: as background or as an object.
If you choose as background, the image will be added as background for your banner. If you choose as object, the image will be added as a regular object like text or shapes.
You can also add the image in its original size or choose to have it resized to fit the banner size. If you want to resize the image again, just drag the image corners.
