About 10 years ago, Bannersnack developed an innovative, reliable and high-performing online tool that allowed anyone, with or without design and coding skills, to create beautiful online banners using the trending technology at that time: Flash. 

With all the technological advancements of the past decade, and taking into consideration the current trends, we’ve given some serious thought to how we are going to move further.

In the end,

we decided to discontinue the Flash editor and put all our brain power and efforts into developing its successor, the HTML5 editor.

We are well aware that many of you are still using HTML5 banners, both downloaded and embedded. Therefore, some questions might naturally pop up in your head as to how the discontinuation of the Flash Editor will affect you.

We thought of a few of these questions and we hope we’ve managed to properly answer them:

 

When is all this happening?

Well, it’s already started, and we’re almost at the point when we are removing access to Flash banners in the “My Banners” section. Starting with February 5, 2018, you won’t be able to view or edit your Flash banners, or view your Flash banner analytics.

 

Will my banners be deleted?

Yes, all Flash banners will be automatically deleted on December 3, 2018. Until then you will be able to download them for further use or delete them. After deletion, the embed code for your Flash banners will stop working.

 

Will I be able to download my Flash banners?

Yes, until the end of 2018 you will be able to download all your Flash banners in .swf format, in one single action, by clicking the new option in My Banners – All Types – Flash Banners. All embedded banners will continue to work until that date, when the embed code will be discontinued for all Flash banners.

 

Will I be able to delete my Flash banners?

Again, Yes! Until the end of 2018 you will be able to delete all your Flash banners in one go, by clicking the new option in My Banners – All Types – Flash Banners. This is a non-reversible action and all embedded banners will stop working for good.

 

So, what will happen to my embedded banners?

As long as you don’t delete them, they will still work until the end of 2018, when embed support will be discontinued as well. Although the embed code will work, the Banner Analytics for your Flash banners will no longer be available after February 5, 2018.

 

Am I still able to edit the banners I’ve created with my Flash editor?

Yes, until February 5, 2018.

 

What will happen after February 5 with the Flash banners included in a banner rotator?

They will work until the end of 2018, when all items added to a banner rotator straight from Bannersnack will stop working. However, the rotator will still show Flash banners that were created with Bannersnack, downloaded in .swf format and then uploaded to the rotator.
