Now that you can export the banners you created with BannerSnack to SWF files, you might want to play them independently of your browser.
The first thing you can think of is to download Adobe Flash Player. But since you used BannerSnack, that means you already have the flash player installed. However Adobe Flash Player won’t solve your problem, as it still uses a browser to play SWF files, and you need a player that would play the SWFs independently, right?
Don’t search for “adobe swf player” as you will get this page. Dead end.
However, Adobe has indeed such a SWF player, but, for our confusion (I had to ask my workmates from the flash department where can I find it), it is rather hard to find. It’s called Adobe Flash Player Projector Content Debugger (oh…) or Adobe Standalone Flash Player.
You can download it here for Windows 10 and Mac:
- Flash Player 29.0.0.140 – Release date 04/10/2018 (422 MB)
- Flash Player 29.0.0.113ย – Release date 03/13/2018 (405 MB)
- Flash Player 28.0.0.161 – Release date 02/06/2018 (408 MB)
- Flash Player 28.0.0.137 – Release date 01/09/2018 (406 MB)
- Flash Player 15.0.0.152 (Win Firefox and Mac) – Release date 9/9/2014 (132 MB)
- Flash Player 15.0.0.167 (Win IE only) – Release date 9/9/2014 (33.78 MB)
- Flash Player 13.0.0.201ย (Mac only) – Release date 4/16/2014 (44.67 MB)
There you go! Now you can play your SWF files as easily as viewing a GIF file.

November 5, 2009This Standalone Player is Good but It does not contains File Association directly with SWF files.

November 6, 2009Mr.C.M.PANDYA,
I believe once it is installed, the association takes place automatically. On your computer does it open with another program?

December 15, 2009Mike, it’s an ordinary .exe. You just need to double click it and install it as any other program.

March 17, 2010the adobe player is a bit rubbish if you need to play movie-type swfs, since it doens’t have a playhead , and the forward/back shortcuts aren’t working on my laptop. hopeless!

July 15, 2010I’ve been searching frustratedly all over for just this simple minimal edged player.. Thank-you very much! I knew it had to exist somewhere… You would think Adobe would advertise its link a little more obviously, or the fact it has a player outside of a browser, as the browser plugin takes up a lot of screen real estate.. and for lap top screens way too much.
Thanks again.

December 25, 2010I am getting this error on my vendors SWF file:
Error: Error #2067: The ExternalInterface is not available in this container. ExternalInterface requires Internet Explorer ActiveX, Firefox, Mozilla 1.7.5 and greater, or other browsers that support NPRuntime.
at Error$/throwError()
at flash.external::ExternalInterface$/call()
at thefilename/onPreInitialize()
Does this mean this SWF can only run inside a Browser?
If so, is there a “wrapper” container to test it standalone?
thanks

January 3, 2012I just found out that you can download the most up-to-date standalone swf player from adobe’s site. Just go to http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html and scroll down a bit. You’ll see the download links for the flash debugger setup there.
Cheers

February 27, 2013Thank you very much. I thought I was going to have to install the full Macromedia Dream Weaver Suite (I still have it and wish they had not been bought up by ADOBE). This saved the rest of my day.
As for the people having trouble with the install, you may be having trouble because the program does not install in windows permanently like you are used too. The program runs in a stand alone manner, which means you will need to run the setup each time you want to run the software, and when you close the software it stops running. When you want to run it again, you will have to run the installer again. This is true of many older programs that were designed to run on their own.
If this is too confusing and you need it to look and work via a desktop link like many other installed programs on your computer; do like I do. Place the installer
“flashplayer_10_sa_debug.exe” in it’s own folder and name the folder something you will remember like “ADOBE SWF Player”. Copy and paste this new folder into the programs directory of your compute with the other programs. In most versions of windows this is typically located at “C:\Program Files” Once you have placed the new folder in the Program Files folder, open the new folder. You should see the “flashplayer_10_sa_debug.exe” program sitting there. Right click on the program and scroll the drop down menu the “Send To” choice, hover over this choice with your curser and scroll down to the “Desktop (Create Shortcut)” selection and right click on this option. This will put a link on the desktop to the installer program and will allow you to restart the program from there. Once you know it is working, close the open folders because the task is finished.
I hope this helps,
All the best,
NickFromSpace
